ARTISTS STATEMENT

I really enjoy nudity. I think it's strange that in our overtly sexualised society, real nudity, that is a natural expression, has become almost taboo. I find it comfortable to be naked, and once I am, my whole body becomes a canvas on which I'm able to adorn, paint, manipulate. I do, however, take issue with a lot of mainstream pornography and the way it can objectify, demean or serve to reinforce harmful notions of gender. But I am pro-sex, which is why I loved ISM. A chance to be nude without having to conform to a man's idea of what is sexy. I had control over the camera and thus could take pictures of whatever pleased me. And it was a lot of fun.
