Newbie: Any other models with disabilities?

Hi all,
I’m new here and thought I’d introduce myself now that my shoot has gone up. Firstly,
I am really excited to be a part of this.
It’s been so important to me over the years to “refind” myself after gaining quite a lot of weight from various xomplcarioks.
It’s also been important as I have only become dependent on a wheelchair (sometimes walking frame for a few metres) for the last 4.5 years.
It’s part of me and this along with other modelling gigs has helped me really discover that beauty can come in all shapes, identities, sizes and abilities. What I was wondering was if there were any others here who identify as having a disability and have done shoots that also feature that in some way as I’d love to check out your work.
Please if you have some time head over to my account and check out my “Wheelz” folio.
I would love to know what thoughts, comments, questions and even ideas people have as I really hope to do another shoot eventually but would love to incorporate a few more artistic ideas.
Thanks everyone ?

Hi Jay,
Thanks for posting, coz otherwise I wouldn't have seen your folio smile

From memory there is another shoot going back about 5-7yrs with someone else who has a disability (maybe Hyper_Ballad or Redbird can shed some more light on this). But there hasn't been many- maybe you will change that?!!??! I know some contributors from outside this space and have observed their struggles with invisible disabilities like chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia but I think that it would be hard to incorporate into a shoot. Also I wonder how many people who contribute here hide stuff like that in the efforts to find work? Like when your disability is invisible do you get used to hiding it or minimizing it because others do?

Anyway, thank you for posting!!! Can't wait to see what else you have in mind for a shoot smile

Hello Jay_Fate!! Thank you so much for submitting to the site, I'd love to see another shoot from you! As for ideas, I really like seeing shoots incorporating things that that person is really into, as it shows a passionate and enthusiastic side to that person that is really lovely to see. Do you collect anything that would look good in a shoot? Or you could maybe do your chair up like a parade float as a way to celebrate your very helpful friend?

You're right Artemesia, there WAS a shoot done by a woman in a wheel chair a few years back. I will try to find out who it was and get back to you smile

Re: Newbie: Any other models with disabilities?

Hey everyone thanks so much for responding and for the support.
Artemesia, I do hope that in the future I can continue to create art that includes all of who I am.
It’s a pity that there aren’t a heap more people with disabilities (that we know of) both here and everywhere really but times are definitely changing and I think more people will be featured on all media platforms in the near future which is great. My friend who got me on to Feck identifies as having a disability. I don’t think she features any mobility aids during her shoot but perhaps she will next time?
Redbird, thanks so much for the lovely comment and feedback. Collecting things I’m unsure about...financesare pretty good at affecting hobbies. Although I do hand see quilts when I can, not entirely sure how helpful that would be and if I dropped the needle... yikes I’ll keep thinking on what passions could be incorporated in to a shoot as I’m sure there will be some ideas there once I’ve thought on it for a bit.
Hey _hyperballad_! Super excited to be here and can’t wait to get some time to look further in to the forum and in the site smile

I'm not sure if you're on Twitter but there is some really great activism & representation for differently abled people in sexual education & porno. Start with Courtney Trouble, TroubleFilms, CrashPad, Shine Louise & go from there.
