camera???

Just curious, but browsing around and seeing a few sets sparked a little curiousity in my head.....I've noticed that in many sets where the camera is visible in pictures (be it in mirrors or whatnot), it is always the same....Is this a strange coincidence, or am I on to something here?? Not everybody buys HP photosmarts....Not trashing the site because its great, but someone wanna try and explain??

Re: camera???

To my knowledge there isn't an HP photosmart camera anywhere on the site.  Many are shot with a Sony S70, arguably the best P&S digital camera ever released in terms of picture quality.  We lend cameras to some artists so we can maintain consistently high quality shoots.

I'd noticed the same camera thing too. Now you've cleared that up for me...

Re: camera???

Hey guys does the camera thing really matter. If you read the given models profile page you'll see that many of the models who've used the same camera are travelling around Australia.

As long as they followed the rules set down by the site I don't see any problems to worry about.

Re: camera???

It doesn't bother me.

I'm just a hardened cynic having seen so many sites claiming 1 thing or another.

With the same camera appearing made me doubt how real the people were.

With the explanation given & having looked at more of the pictures, I'm willing to give the site the benefit of the doubt. The girls are not "main stream" enough for this site not to be real (if that makes sense)

Don't shout me down. If it doesn't make sense, I'll try to explain.

Re: camera???

There are no models on the site which fit into the stereotype porn model. This site is like a breath of fresh air and breathes new life into sites on the web and show how good it can be.

I must admit I'm curious as to what else the girls could be but real?

Re: camera???

IMHO I think people are always sceptical whenever a new site claims to have only real everyday girls and not porn stars trying to be like everyday girls.

After just viewing a few of the folios you know that there is nothing fake about the models, regardless of what camera they are using.

Re: camera???

Are porn stars real people too?  Can they also be artists? We've featured a few artists who have been shot for adult sites but they aren't professional porn stars (though a couple would like to be, judging from their work).

But just recently a couple of girls from a porn agency asked to participate in the Project, and I for one was interested to see whether they'd follow the paradigm of their industry or whether they'd release some hitherto repressed feminine erotic sensiblities.  You'll find out soon, and their bios will tell you who they are.  I can say though, they aren't for the faint hearted.

Re: camera???

The key word is real, I'm not saying porn stars are not real people because obviously they are. It is when they are in front of the camera the professional porn star takes over them and if they are seasoned porn stars they just go through the motions. Fake expressions, same old poses and ultimately in the end start to look alike.

IMHO a professional porn star can never be classed as an artist because it is the industry that controls them and doesn't allow them to be creative, but in a project like this they will get the chance to become artists as they will be in sole control of the material they produce.

Hope we get to see the folios soon just to see how the porn industry has influenced and affected them. This is a chance for self expression.

Okay, we'll move one of them up the order in the next week or two.

Re: camera???

I came across a web site a year or so ago of a fine arts student who worked her way through college as a stripper. Naturally enough she tried photographing her coworkers while they were not being asked to work. She was surprised when they presented/posed themselves as strippers for her camera. She found that they saw themselves as strippers and that's what they showed for the camera. Sounds like  from Head's faint hearted comment that much the same thing happened with the porn models taking pictures of themselves.

Re: camera???

thanks cbguy. Just what I getting at.

You just have to look round the net to find sites claiming "here's an everyday person we just found who wanted to get naked & be posted on the net", "These are real everyday people", etc when they are not ( or don't believe they are). They are porn site designed to appeal to the "real amateur" segment.

The first think i had to figure out for myself about his site was is this for real, as it claims all about art, self expression, etc or just another elaborate porn scam.

I have to say I think it is for real, re my previous statement. The models have flaws for 1. The shoots you see on porn sites are too real, too perfect.

By all means post folios by porn stars. I'm not opposed to that. The difference will be the shoot won't be perfect. and I mean that in the best possible way :-)

I'm glad I got people thinking, and as was mentioned I was just curious because of the number of sites out there claiming to be "real amateurs"....I love the site, and kudos to the women posing, they do great....I was just curious!

OK well as promised, today is the first of a pair of porn models to sign up for Project_ISM, Opal.  Having met them personally I can say that they're no different to the other participants I've met except it didn't all seem like a new adventure to them.  How do you tell the difference between a guy who's really good at fixing cars and a motor mechanic?  There isn't much difference at all, and often the amateur will put in a lot more effort and get better results.

Re: camera???

That's great, but what kind of camera are they going to be using? I don't know if this is a british/ausie thing, but here in the states, we have hundreds of brands of cameras at our disposal! I personally own 5 different brands. So, seeing all the models in ISM all having the same camera leads me to believe one of two options.
1) These models aren't randomly picked but instead chosen prior to their pictures taken and a camera is "donated" to them for the photo shoot
2) the site is sponsored by Sony and as such, only sony products are allowed to be displayed.

Re: camera???

They don't all use the same camera.  So far on the site we have Olympus, Sony, Nikkon, Canon and some we don't know of.  Most of the Sony cameras you see are people who have been local to us or to our friends, and we send cameras around.  We have a few of that model Sony because they have good optics and their software algorithms are especially good, ie they seem to give good results in a variety of lighting conditions.

How do you "radnomly pick" a model?  All the people you see on ISM have applied to join the Project.  Some are referred by other artists and friends, and a few have been approached in public.  More and more are applying through the site which gives great diversity and ultimately we'd like so many shoots in our mailbox that we can be updating more than daily.  So far we haven't turned anyone away although we do have some shoots which won't make it onto the site, at least as it is structured now.

Re: camera???

[I really don't see why people are all going on about this "same camera" thing. As Head states there are a number of different ones being used. In any case, why can't the models be accepted for what they have achieved. The variety of exposure, both physical and photographic provides an excellent insight into their personalities and their abilities.

If I was younger and a little more photogenic I would certainly be one of the first males to shoot myself. Not that most of the members would be interested and I think it's a shame that this site has become so male orientated in the views of it's members. Aren't there any female members with an interest any more?

Hello Belgareth, this camera issue is just a complete waste of space and nothing to worth worrying about.

As for more of a female imput, you'll notice that our female collegues have chosen to discuss serious issues, like styles of shoots etc.

I know some of the locations, in general, that the Canadian girls do their shoots from. The girl from Nova Scotia on the beach, I have a good idea where that was done. Mind you there are lots of spots here in Nova Scotia that look like that LOL so don't ask me for directions. So I have total faith that everything is on the up and up. LOL And if it isn't I don't really care because the girls do such a good job.

<<<< snipped for brevity >>>

Well, I know a few porn stars, having shot them.  I have at least two portfolios of models before they moved to LA and became porn stars.  They are just ordinary girls.  They worry about paying rent,  or if this pimple going to ruin a week of work, etc.  Some are conservitive,  some are outrageous.  Some are quiet, some are loud.  They have simply dumped the general opinion of what sex should be and just go have fun.
Contradictory to the Barbara Walthers interview  (where she kept prying at the girl to find misery) the girls I've dealt with  are happy and enjoying life.  They aren't always happy with who their co-star is,  but it's only for a few minutes.  It's better than going to a job you hate every day and putting up with a boss who is an idiot.
They get to write off makeup, clothes, tanning, vacations, spas, and other fun stuff on their taxes.  On the whole they are treated like stars,  get free lunch, and have fun doing it.  Agreed that not all are in this situation.  Some porn is dirty and abusive.  But my experience with the models is that they are happy and well paid.
I expect this is why we are being flooded with girls from the former eastern bloc.  They can earn in one day what the average worker earns in a month.
